VISA Information

GUIDELINE FOR VISA APPLICATION

–  Submission of visa application:  Sunday – Thursday from 09.30 – 11.30 hrs. (Ramadan: Sunday – Thursday from 09.30 – 11.00 hrs.) (except for the Embassy’s public holidays)

–  Passport collection is from 15.00 – 16.00 hrs. (except Ramadan – from 14.00 – 15.00 hrs.)

1. Transit Visa 

Purpose of Visit

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for    the following purposes:

·         To travel in transit through the Kingdom in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re- enter his/her own country: (Category “TS”).

·         To participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.): (Category “S”).

·         The person in charge or crew of a conveyance coming to a port, station or area in the Kingdom: (Category “C”).

Required documents

·         Visa application form completely filled out in English.

·         Original Passport or Travel Document and one copy with validity not less than 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page.

·         One recent photograph (passport-sized photo or 4×6 cm.) Photograph must have a light color background with a full- face view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses.  Photo must be taken within 6 months.

·         A 3-month saving or current bank statement or evidence of adequate finance (certificate or Time deposit) (L.E. 10,000 per person and L.E. 30,000 per family) and must not be issued longer than 1 month. Credit card statement is not accepted.

·         A copy of a booked round-trip ticket

·         HR Letter (for employees)

·         For self-employed, business license or business registration indicating the applicant’s name.

·         For Transit Visa Category “S” – letter of invitation stating the application’s participation in sports activities is requested.

·         For Transit Visa Category “C” – Letter from company stating the objective of the visit to Thailand is requested.
Visa Processing Fee L.E. 250 per entry per person.
Validity of Visa Three months from the date of issue.
Period of Stay Travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for a period of not exceeding 30 days from the date of entry.

Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary and also reserve the right to reject any application without having to provide reason.

 

2. Tourist Visa 

Purpose of Visit

This type of visa is issued to applicants wishing to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for tourism purposes.

Required documents

·         Visa application form completely filled out in English

·         Original Passport or Travel Document and a copy with validity not less than 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page.

·         One recent photograph (passport-sized photo or 4×6 cm.) Photograph must have a light color background with a full- face view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses.  Photo must be taken within 6 months.

·         A 3-month saving or current bank statement or evidence of adequate finance (certificate or Time deposit) (L.E. 10,000 per person and L.E. 30,000 per family) and must not be issued longer than 1 month. Credit card statement is not accepted.

·         A copy of a booked round-trip ticket

·         HR Letter (for employees)

·         For self-employed, business license or business registration indicating the applicant’s name.

Period of Stay Travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for a period of not exceeding 60 days from the date of entry.

Extension of stay

Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau.  For more information, please visit http://www.immigration.go.th.

Please also note that the extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.

 

3. Tourist Visa (Medical Treatment)
Purpose of Visit
This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for medical treatment at hospitals/medical facilities in the Kingdom.
Required documents

·         Visa application form completely filled out in English

·         Original Passport or Travel Document and a copy with validity not less than 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page.

·         One recent photograph (passport-sized photo or 4×6 cm.) Photograph must have a light color background with          a full- face view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses.  Photo must be taken within 6 months.

·         A 3-month saving or current bank statement or evidence of adequate finance (certificate or Time deposit) (L.E. 10,000 per person and L.E. 30,000 per family) and must not be issued longer than 1 month. Credit card statement is not accepted.

·         A copy of a booked round-trip ticket

·         HR Letter (for employees)

·         For self-employed, business license or business registration indicating the applicant’s name.

·         Letter of hospitals in the Kingdom of Thailand indicating medical purpose and duration of treatment

Visa Processing Fee

For duration of medical treatment not more than 60 days (MT visa): L.E. 300 per entry per person.

For duration of medical treatment more than 60 days (Non-O visa): L.E. 580 (single entry) per person, or L.E. 1,420 (multiple entries) per person.
Period of Stay Travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for a period of not exceeding 60-90 days from the date of entry depending on the duration of treatment indicating in the supported letter of hospitals in Thailand.

4. Non-Immigrant Visa 

Purpose of Visit

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for the following purposes:

·         To perform non-diplomatic duties (work at or under supervision of his/her diplomatic missions): (Category “F”).

·         To conduct business / to work: (Category “B”)

·         To invest or perform other activities relating to investment, subject to the provision of the established law on investment promotion : (Category “IB”)

·         To study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminar, to attend a conference or training course, to study as a foreign Buddhist monk: (Category “ED”)

·         To work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter : (Category “M”)

·         To perform missionary work or other religious activities with the concurrences of the Thai Ministries or Government Department concerned: (Category “R”)

·         To conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute: (Category “RS”)

·         To undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or specialist

·         Other activities: (Category “O”) as follows: To stay with family, perform duties for the state enterprise or social welfare organizations, to receive medical treatment, to be a sport coach as required by Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.

·         To stay after retirement for a person who is 50 years old or older: (Category “O-A”)

Required documents

  • Visa application form completely filled out in English
  • Original Passport or Travel Document and a copy with validity not less than 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page.

Additional documents for each type of Non-Immigrant Visas

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “F”

·         Letter of invitation on official letterhead stating the objective of the visit

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “B” (Business)

1.  Foreigners who wish to work in Thailand must provide the following documents:
(single entry only)

·         Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour. To obtain this letter, the applicant’s prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour (Tel. +662-245-2745), or at the Provincial Employment Office in his or her respective province.  More information is available atwww.doe.go.th/workpermit/index.html

·         Academic Certificate and Curriculum Vitae detailing work experiences of the applicant.

·         A copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour and alien income tax or Por Ngor Dor 91 (only in the case where applicant has previously worked in Thailand).

·         Corporate documents of associated partners/companies in Thailand such as:
1)  Business registration and business license
2)  List of shareholders
3)  Company profile
4)  Details of business operation
5)  List of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions
6)  Map indicating location of the company
7)  Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax
(Por Ngor Dor 50 and  Por Ngor Dor 30 of the latest year)

8)  Value added tax registration (Por Por 20)

·         An alien who receives a Non-Immigrant visa can work in the Kingdom of Thailand once he or she is being granted a work permit.  An alien in violation of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) concerning taking up employment without a work permit or the Royal Decree B.E. 2522 (1979) concerning holding employment in certain restricted occupations and professions shall be prosecuted and imprisoned or fined, or shall face both penalties.

2.  Foreigners who wish to conduct business in the Kingdom of Thailand must provide the following documents:

·         Letter from applicant’s company indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, salary and purpose of visit(s) to Thailand.

·         Letter of invitation from trading or associated partners/ companies in Thailand · Corporate documents of associated partners/companies in Thailand such as:
1) Business registration or business license
2) List of shareholders
3) Company profile
4) Details of business operation
5) Map indicating location of the company
6) List of foreign workers
7) Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax
(Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30 of the latest year)

3. Foreigners who wish to work as teacher in Thailand must provide the following documents: (Single entry only)

·         Letter of acceptance from employing institute school in Thailand

·         Evidence of educational qualification such as diplomas or teaching certification

·         School license or business registration, list of shareholders and school profile

·         Applicant’s resume

·         Police certificate verifying that applicant has no criminal record or equivalents or letter issued by authorized agencies in applicant’s country

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “ED” (Education)

1. Foreigners who wish to study in Thailand must provide the following documents:

·         Letter of acceptance from the concerned schools/ universities or institutes.

·         School license or business registration, list of shareholders and school profile.

·         Letter of approval from Ministry of Education (for Thai courses in private institutes)

2. Foreigners who wish to participate in projects or seminar, to attend a conference or training course in Thailand must provide the following documents:

·         Letter from applicant’s company indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, salary and purpose of visit(s) to Thailand.

·         Letter of invitation or acceptance from the concerned companies/ organizations or institutes with business registration or business license
School license or business registration, list of shareholders and school profile

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “M”

·         Approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Thailand

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “R”

·         Approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Thailand

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “RS”

·         Letter of invitation from the concerned research institutes with the institute business registration or business license.

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O”

1. Foreigners who wish to stay with family in Thailand must provide the following documents:

·         If you are a former Thai citizen, proof of Thai citizen; such as Thai passport, Thai identification card, Thai house registration or Thai birth certificate, should be submitted.

·         If you want to visit as a spouse or family member (son or daughter), proof of relationship; such as a copy of marriage license or birth certificate with a proof that your spouse or family member is a Thai citizen, should be submitted.

2. Foreigners who wish for volunteering work with the state enterprises or social welfare organizations in Thailand must provide a letter of invitation or acceptance from the concerned companies/ organizations or institutes with business registration or business license. (single entry only)

3. Foreigners who wish to be a sport coach as required by Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process in Thailand must provide a letter of invitation or acceptance from the Thai Government or concerned organization.

4. For football players, the employer/club must get approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Visa Processing Fee

Single entry        : L.E. 580 per person.

Multiple entries :  L.E. 1, 420 per person.

Validity of Visa

Single entry       : Validity of a visa is three months from the date of issue.
Multiple entries : Validity of a visa is one year from the date of issue.

Period of Stay Travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for a period of not exceeding 90 days from the date of entry unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Please also note that all documents must be translated into English.  

Issuance Procedure and Notes for applicants

1.  No appointment is required for visa application.

2.  The Embassy will review the application after submission, on a first-come, first-served basis, which may result in the refusal of visa or the number of entry reduced.

3.  Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary and also reserve the right to reject any application without having to provide reason.

4.  If any appliant improperly or agrresively behaves, he/she will be asked to leave the Embassy and his/her application   will be rejected.

5.   If any applicant’s required documents are missing or any applicant is requested to submit more documents, he/she must return to the Embassy within the Embassy’s application hours (before 11.30 am.)  If not, he/she has to submit his/her application on the Embassy’s next working day.        

4.  Visa processing takes two working days.

5.  Incomplete or inaccurate application will be disregarded.

6.  If any applicant submits FRUAD DOCUMENTS, his/her application will be rejected.  Also he/she or the travel agent representing him/her will be blacklisted for 6 months.

7.  Applicant is not required to be present at the Embassy to submit his/her application.  However, any travel agency representing any applicant MUST provide a cover letter addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy requesting for visa (specifying numbers, names of applicants and name and copy of the agency’s representative.  Any applicant’s name not on the list, he/she will have to submit his/her application by herself. OR  a copy of ID card must be submitted whenever applying for visa or receiving passports on behalf of others.

8.  Interview may be requested for any individual, upon the consideration of the Consul.

9.  Anyone with the receipt can collect passport on behalf of applicants with a copy of his/her ID card.

Extension of Stay
